James “Jim” “PJ” Harold Hobson

James “Jim” “PJ” Harold Hobson, of Brown County passed away on March 28, 2022, at the age of 83 in Richland Bean-Blossom Health Care Center, after battling dementia for nearly a decade.

Jim was born on April 3, 1938, in West Baden Springs, IN to Forrest and Rebecca Hobson. Siblings are Robert Hobson and Anne Henderson who both preceded him in death along with his grandson Andrew Hobson. Jim was happily married for 38 years to Tammy (Johnston) Hobson. Preceding this marriage his children are Teresa DeBarr, Mark Hobson, Mike Hobson, Jim Bryan Hobson, Kerry Hobson, James Hobson Lewis, Kimberly Barr, and Jamie Hobson. Jim also had two step-sons Jason and Nathan Everett. Jim had 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Jim graduated from Paoli High School in 1956, and from Valparaiso University in 1959. He began his career as a Quality Engineer, progressing to Quality Manager for various industries, until his retirement from Cummins in 2000.

Jim’s biggest passion in life was helping others through his ministry. Becoming a Chaplain for the Brown County Sheriff’s Department and Pastor for Duncan Christian Center gave him great joy. When PJ wasn’t preaching or studying the Bible, he could be found riding his Harley. His passion for motorcycles fueled his ministry as well.

Friends may visit him on Thursday, April 7, from 11-2 with a celebration of life at 2 p.m. by Pastor Rick Clayton at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Road 135 North, Nashville, IN. Burial will be immediately following at Duncan Cemetery
