The Brown County Humane Society’s Dawg Gone Walk and Fiesta includes contests for furry friends such as bobbing for hot dogs, fastest fetch and sneaker sniffer. Dogs and their humans are invited to experience the fun this month at Deer Run Park.

Brown County Humane Society’s annual Dawg Gone Walk and Fiesta is a guaranteed great time for you as well as your dogs who will go home tired after a busy afternoon!
The annual event will take place Sunday, May 15 from noon to 2:30pm at Deer Run Park in Nashville. Festivities will kick off with a ceremonial walk around beautiful Deer Run Park. People and dogs alike can enjoy the scenery before heading back to the event area for an afternoon of fun. Dogs will be invited to participate in any of our 23 contests, which are free to join. Some contests allow dogs to show off their skills while others just let them enjoy lots of attention while simply being them. Categories include contests like cutest smile, best bark, biggest dog, littlest dog, best dog trick and the ever-popular best costume contest.
Dogs will also be able to run free and make new friends in the designated off-leash area!
“Bobbing for Hot Dogs,” “Fastest Fetch,” “Sneaker Sniffer” and “Doggie Dash” are just some of the games dogs can compete in with the winner receiving a ribbon at the end. Each game requires one ticket to participate. The cost is $1 per ticket and tickets will be available for purchase with cash or credit card. Back by popular demand, we will have wristbands for purchase that allow dogs unlimited game play.
The event will conclude with our exciting ball drop ending! Participants will be able to purchase tennis balls for $5 each. At the end of the event, the balls will be dropped from a fire truck into the contest area and a shelter dog will retrieve the winning ball. If your ball is the winner, you will receive half of the proceeds from the ball sales, which could be as large as a $625 cash prize!
Dogs who attend the event must be current on vaccinations. All dogs must also be leashed and must enjoy the company of both other dogs and people.
The cost to attend is $20 per dog through May 8 and then it will increase to $30 until the day of event. Tickets will also be available for $30 the day of the event at Deer Run Park. Humans can attend for free.
