POET’S CORNER: “Nirvana,” “For the Children”

Nirvana

Competition breeds animosity

Cooperation leads to unity

Love and peace bring harmony

To leave hate behind

To bury anger

Where peace and love reside

Without want, without need

Nirvana we can find

There were those with a dream

Gandhi, Buddha, Jesus, Martin King

Their words spoke of love and peace

Love, peace and Nirvana

For the Children

Little Sasha

Just six years old

She was blown apart

By a Russian drone

In her bed, in her home

They’re killing the children!

In Ukraine, Syria and Yemen

With bombs, missiles and tanks

They’re killing the children!

In Sudan, Afghanistan,

In Ukraine, Syria and Yemen

They’re starving the children!

My God!

They’re killing the children!
