Aqua yoga, line dancing at Y

The Brown County YMCA, 105 Willow St., will host aqua yoga and line dancing sessions this summer.

Aqua yoga will be on July 20 at 9 a.m. and July 21 at 5:30 p.m.

The session is free to members. Non-members will pay a daily guest fee.

Line dancing sessions will take place every Wednesday from Aug. 17 to Sept. 24 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The cost per session is $60 for members and $70 per non-member.

The Y continues to offer open gym for basketball and pickleball for players 16 and older of all ability levels with informal, friendly games.

Core Conditioning is also available on Wednesdays on Zoom or in-person.

Basketball is offered from 5:30 to 6:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Pickleball is 5:30 to 10 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 5:30 to 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; 7 to 9 a.m. on Saturdays; and for beginners on Fridays from 3 to 5 p.m.

Intense Aqua meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Yoga meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Silver Sneakers Yoga meets from 10 to 11 a.m. Laughter Yoga meets from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

H.I.I.T/Tabata meets on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 and 8 a.m.

A mobility class meets on Saturdays at 9 a.m.

Open gym hours are free for Y members and $3 per non-member. Open gym occurs at varying times between 8 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Weekend hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The open gym schedule can be found at www.browncountyymca.org.

A flex pass is also available for $72 and can be used to take 12 of any of the classes.

High school football combine

Brown County High School football Coach Konnor Graber will host a mock college and National Football League football combine for student athletes on July 27 from 3 to 5 p.m.

The event will consist of agility and strength competitions. Event categories will include a 40 yard dash, short shuttle, three-cone drill, broad jump and bench press. Each category will have one winner.

Graber explained that the combine will build morale for the team through competition and prepare high schools students for an actual combine they will be required to do if they desire to play college football.

The combine will be a fundraiser for the team with local sponsors. A cookout for the team and parents will follow the event.

Float, flow, flourish with Simply Fitness

Simply Fitness will host an outdoor retreat this fall featuring primitive camping and yoga.

The retreat will be from Oct. 19 to 21 and includes primitive camping, hiking, yoga, paddle boarding and two meals per day.

Camping space will be provided by Hoosiers on the Ridge.

Parks and rec wrestling club

Brown County Parks and Recreation is offering a wrestling club for students in first through 12th grade this summer.

The club will meet until Aug. 6 in the wrestling room at the Brown County Educational Center, 260 Schoolhouse Lane.

The club will be instructed by the high school wrestling coach.

The program fee is $20. Those interested can register at the parks and recreation office, 1001 Deer Run Lane.

There is no registration deadline and children can sign up at any time.
