Rick (Ric) Lee Hedrick

Rick (Ric) Lee Hedrick, 68, of Nashville, Indiana peacefully passed away in his longtime Brown County home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Thursday, August 11, 2022. He was born on September 29th, 1953, in Columbus, Indiana to Ted and Laverne Hedrick. For forty-seven years, he was married to the love of his life and best friend, Charmaine Diann Stephans of Shelbyville, Indiana.

Ric was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who had a passion for traveling with his wife out west, especially to one of his all-time favorite destinations, Glacier National Park, Montana. He was a proud member of A.A. and N.A. and used his own personal experiences and strength selflessly to help numerous people throughout his sobriety. He loved all music and played guitar from a young age. Later, he found a love for indigenous culture, including spending time in sweat lodges with his friends and family. Additionally, Ric had enthusiasm for horseback riding, respect for all things in nature and time with his children and grandchildren. Over the past two years, he deeply loved his cat named appropriately, “Kitty”.

He graduated from Brown County High School in 1971, and joined the Navy immediately following graduation. Ric retired from Cummins Inc. after thirty dedicated years of service. He went on to work for Advanced Mold and C & G Tool, tool and die companies. During his life, he also farmed alongside his father, Ted, on the family-owned Brown County farm.

He is survived by his loving spouse, Charmaine, two children, Justin Hedrick and Amber Hill (Kevin) and four grandchildren, Cole Hedrick, Dalton Hedrick, Kaleigh Hill, and Wylan Hill, all of Nashville, Indiana. Also he is survived by his brother, Randy Hedrick (Vicki), two nieces, Sara Brandstatter (Andy) and Jaclyn Hardin (Jason) and Ric’s step-father, Joe Andrew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted Hedrick and Laverne Andrew.

The family would like to thank every hospice nurse at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana for the care and compassion they showed Ric in his final days. Special thanks to Traci Branstetter, who put her heart and soul into caring not only for Ric but for the entire family. She is an angel, and the family will be forever grateful for her care and support provided to our beloved Ric (Dad, Papaw, Paps) throughout his final journey here on earth.
