Donald Hatton, formerly of Brown County, age 85, died at 5:42 p.m., Sept. 19, 2022, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Don was born Sept. 17, 1937 in Jackson County, the son of Henry and Ressie Greathouse Hatton. He married Rose Marie Cross on May 11, 1957.
Don retired from Cummins Engine after 31 years of service. He and his wife operated Spurgeon Corner Grocery for eight years. He was also a farmer that enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. Don’s family was the most important thing in his life.
The funeral will be Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Hendershot officiating. Burial follows at Christiansburg Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner Children’s Hospital and Hospice of South-Central Indiana.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Andrew (Carla) Hatton, of Columbus, Alan D. (Carol Ann) Hatton, of Brown County, Michael Keith Hatton, of Columbus; a close friend, Donnie (Sherrie) Williams, of Brownstown; grandchildren, Ben (Melissa) Hatton, of Columbus, Jacob (Lindsey) Hatton, Emma Hatton, and Tyler Hatton, both of Brown County; great-grandchildren, Lydia Marie Hatton and Sarah Catherine Hatton, both of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gregory Lee Hatton; and brothers, Carl Hatton, Cloyd Hatton and Doyle Hatton; and a sister, Faye Gorbett.
