Summary: Greencastle jumped out to a 49-7 halftime lead Friday and went on to post a 63-7 win against Brown County. Noah Lewis threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Brady Bond in second quarter for the score for the Eagles (0-6, 0-3).

Coach’s comments: The Eagles defeated the Eagles from South Putnam on Saturday. The Eagles for once were the larger team. This was a good win for the Eagles as they are wrapping up their season.

Sept. 22

Summary: Brown County won both doubles matches, but Edinburgh took the three singles matches, including one by forfeit, to pull out a 3-2 victory.

Max Blandford beat Jack Sichting 6-0, 6-2 a No. 1 singles, and Austin Brockman topped Jack Sichting 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for the Lancers (7-10). For the Eagles (3-13), Jon Kirchhofer and Trevor Shields defeated Bailey Totten and Milas Burkman 6-7 (3) 6-2, (10-4) at No. 1 doubles, and Sawyer Gore and Brandon Saechao blanked Teddy Crawhorn and Braylon Lenkner 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Boys soccer

Sept. 22

Brown County 3, Trinity Lutheran, 0

Summary: Carter Norcutt scored two goals to lead Brown County to a 3-0 win against Trinity Lutheran. Wesley Arndt scored the other goal for the Eagles (2-8). Ethan Scott had two assists. The Cougars fell to 3-9-2.

Brown County 0, West Vigo, 3

Summary: West Vigo handed Brown County a 3-0 WIC defeat on Saturday. Bradley Arndt had multiple saves for the Eagles (2-8, 1-5).

Girls soccer

Sept. 24

Brown County 0, West Vigo, 4

Summary: Brown County came away with a 4-0 WIC loss to West Vigo on Saturday. Anna Tipton posted five saves for the Eagles (3-4-1, 3-4).

Volleyball

Sept. 20

Brown County vs. Cloverdale

Summary: Brown County cruised in the first two sets on its way to a 25-10, 25-10, 25-20 Western Indiana Conference win at Cloverdale.

Abigail Watson pounded 15 kills, Anna Stogsdill recorded 13 assists, Cady Kemp had one block, Londyn Koester notched 12 digs and Liz Roush served five aces to lead the Eagles (6-12, 4-1).

Also for Brown County, Roush tallied five kills, Madilyn Hawley added four kills and eight assists and Morgan Osborn had nine assists. Milly Patrick notched five digs, and Kemp and Emma Lucas each served two aces.

Sept. 24

Brown County vs. Greenwood

Summary: Brown County came close in the first set, but fell at Greenwood 25-21, 25-15, 25-17. Abigail Watson led the Eagles (6-13) with 12 kills and seven digs. Anna Stogsdill recorded 11 assists, Morgan Osborn and Londyn Koester each notched seven digs and Emma Lucas served four aces. Also for Brown County, Cady Kemp pounded three kills, Madilyn Hawley had three assists and Lucas added two kills and five digs.

Brown County vs. Northview

Summary: Brown County won the second set, but dropped a 25-18, 18-25, 25-11, 25-11 Western Indiana Conference decision at Northview on Saturday. The Eagles fell to 6-12 overall and 4-1 in the WIC.

Cross country

Sept. 24

40th annual Cross Country Invitational at Culver Academies

Summary: Chase Austin won the Boys Varsity Closed race to lead Brown County to the team title in Saturday’s Culver Academies Invitational. The Eagles scored 116 points to 126 for runner-up Rensselaer Central. Austin ran 16:14.3. Cord Smith finished 21st in 17:49.1, while Charlie Webb was 29th (18:03.9), Case Smith 32nd (18:09.4) and Rafe Silbaugh 39th (18:22.0). Brown County’s Hadley Gradolf finished third in the Girls Varsity Closed race in 19:21.0. Megan Cumberledge took 41st in 22:41.8, and Sadie Hiatt was 58th in 23:35.1.
