Get ready for Election Day

To the editor:

Are You Ready to Vote? How will you Vote? Early in person? By Mail? In person Election Day Tuesday Nov. 8?

The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday, Oct. 11. It’s a good idea to check your voter registration status. You can easily check your voter status on www.indianavoters.com.

Have you moved? Changed a PO box? Time to update your voter registration.

Have you changed your name? Time to update your voter registration.

Make sure your registration is active before it’s too late to fix it.

Then, use www.Vote411.org to view candidates’ answers (in their own words) to questions provided by the League of Women Voters of Brown County and where we share races with other leagues, provided by the Bloomington League of Women Voters and the Indiana State League. Click “What’s on my Ballot,” enter your address, and see what candidates have to say.

Answers from State Representatives, Congressional candidates, and Brown County local candidates are published on www.Vote411.org

Answers from candidates for State wide offices will be published closer to the election by the Indiana State League on www.Vote411.org

If you don’t see responses from a candidate, contact them and ask them to reply to share their positions. ALL candidates have been contacted by the League of Women Voters to respond.

Early in-person voting is October 12 – November 7 at the Government Building Annex, Salmon Room, 201 Locust Lane, Nashville, IN. Days & Hours are:

MONDAY through FRIDAY from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, EXCEPT for November 7th hours, which are from 8:00 AM to NOON.

Saturday early voting dates will be October 29, 2022 and November 5, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM only.

November 8th is Election Day. You can vote between 6 am and 6 pm, and you MUST vote at your designated polling location. When you log into your voter portal (www.indianavoters.com) it shows you where to vote on Election Day. You can also view precinct polling locations on the Clerk’s website: https://www.browncounty-in.gov/268/Elections .

Take your government issued ID when you vote in person.

Apply for a mail-in absentee ballot by October 27 – if you meet one of the criteria; e.g., over age 65 & more…. Go to https://indianavoters.in.gov/MVPHome/PrintDocuments, click on ABS-MAIL: Application for Absentee Ballot to see the 11 excuses allowed to get an absentee mail in ballot.

The Rotary Club of Brown County thanks all who helped make the 7th Annual “a Taste of Art” a success. Thirty-five Brown County and other nearby artists and art collectors contributed contemporary and heritage art to the silent and live auctions. Liquids refreshments were provided by Bear Wallow Distillery, Quaff On! Brewing Co, and Hard Truth Distilling Co. Corporate sponsors included AIM Media Indiana, Brown County Inn, Carpenter Realty, Jones Law Offices, The Seasons Lodge, White River Broadcasting, Fondulac Farm Cabin Rentals, Jane Gore Enterprises, 7P Solutions LLC, Centra Credit Union, South Central Indiana REMC, Johnny’s Grub to Go, Male Instinct, Nashville Spice Co., Touch of Silver Gold & Old. Thank you to all who attended and to those who purchased art. Proceeds from the event are used for local youth development activities and other community and international projects.
