Boil water advisory for all Nashville customers, some Brown County

All Nashville Municipal Utilities Customers are on a boil water advisory from Oct. 3 through Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. due to a Brown County Water main break.

Customers should boil all water used for drinking, cooking and oral hygiene for at least five minutes prior to consumption.

Excluded from the boil order are customers from Upper Schooner to Belmont.

Brown County Water customers under a boil water advisory should have received an automated phone call notifying them of the advisory, which will last until Thursday, Oct. 6 at 5 p.m., according to Brown County Water’s website.

Brown County Water had a major water line break on Oct. 2 in one of their main lines. They worked all day to repair it, only to have two more leaks along that same line happen, according to Nashville Town Manager Sandie Jones, who said the water outage was growing on Oct. 3.

The break in the system affected customers in various areas of the county.

Since Brown County Water supplies water to Nashville Municipal Utilities customers, some of those customers were also experiencing low water pressure or no water. Until all the leaks are repaired, the outage and low water pressure may affect more customers. They would not know how widespread outages were until the leaks were fixed, Jones said.

As of 9:15 p.m. on Oct. 3, Brown County Water had repaired both leaks and turned water back on.

As of 8 a.m. on Oct. 4, the leaks had been repaired and the lines were being pressurized and tanks were filling, according to Jones. The Town of Nashville website will be updated as more news is sent out. Visit townofnashville.org/administration-and-utilities for updates.
