Janet (Kelp) Mathis, 60, passed away at 12:32 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility with her family by her side. Janet was born Oct. 1, 1962, at Bartholomew County Hospital, the loving daughter of Jerry and Annie (Branaman) Kelp. Janet was a 1980 graduate of Brown County High School.
She was a former employee of Marvin-Johnson Insurance, State Farm Insurance and Elders Journey.
Janet loved her pets and enjoyed reading, ceramics, collecting cookbooks and time with her family.
She is survived by her parents, Jerry and Annie (Branaman) Kelp; sister, Brenda (Frank) Rodgers of Nashville; brothers, Randall (Penny) Kelp of Nashville and Michael (Christi) Kelp of Seymour. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Max & Iva (Dowell) Kelp; maternal grandparents, Alva and Pearl (Wall) Branaman and several aunts and uncles.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with Pastor Paul Blair officiating.
A time of visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27 and at 10 a.m. Monday until the service at the funeral home.
She will be laid to rest at Duncan Cemetery in Brown County.
