One Grand Evening: Dancing the night away at the daddy-daughter dance

Dresses twirled, curls flowed and smiles were abundant as daddies and daughters danced in the colorful from the lights on the dancefloor at the Seasons Lodge and Conference Center this weekend.

This is just a glimpse a grand night that speak volumes of an evening of dancing, games and fun at Brown County Parks and Recreation’s annual Daddy-Daughter Dance that took place on Jan. 10.

Dads, grandpas and uncles, hand-in-hand with their leading ladies, took to the dancefloor when energetic party songs like the “Cha Cha Slide” and the “Cupid Shuffle” filled the room. Some jumped, some clapped, and some did lots and lots of spins.

Things then slowed down, and pairs swayed to and fro, accompanied by the sounds of a gentle acoustic guitar.

The theme has been centered around the time of year the dance has been held since its origin in 2014: the Friday before Valentine’s Day.

Last year’s dance took place in August after postponing the February date due to trouble securing volunteers.

With their best hair styles, pink lipstick and in their very best dresses, all the young ladies no doubt believed this was night they will remember and cherish.

Dancing was not the only activity, with cornhole, foam axe-throwing and face painting stationed around the event center.

Guests were greeted with large, pink “Sold out” signs on the door of the event center with more than 300 dads and daughters in attendance, long away from the first daddy-daughter dance, which only had eight participants.

Snacks were available to grab on the counters along the edge of the room with young ladies taking a break between songs for a sweet treat.

Here are a few moments captured from the evening.
