LETTERS: Thanks to all for Soup Bowl support

Thanks to community for Soup Bowl support

To the editor:

On behalf of Mother’s Cupboard Community Kitchen Board of Directors, a big thanks to everyone for their silent auction donations, bowls, soups, and volunteers in the weeks leading up to the event, as well as the day of the Soup Bowl 2023 event, to ensure its success and that a good time would be had by all!

Because of the support of our generous community and volunteers, we can continue to fight hunger in our county and the surrounding counties, by providing hot meals and pantry items to our clients, no questions asked.

To IGA and the Visitor’s Center pre-ticket sales. Thank you for always supporting us and helping sell tickets.

To Kevin Ault and staff for always accommodating us and making sure we have everything we need at the Seasons.

Silent Auction donations: This year we had well over 200 items donated by local businesses, artists, jewelry, woodworkers, crafters, potters, and private individuals. This created the largest Silent Auction in the history of Soup Bowl.

Thanks to Sharianne Whetstine and Marla Jo Ham for providing live entertainment.

Volunteers for the Silent Auction, Bid Sign Up, Runners, Checkout, Bowls, Easels, Tickets, Drinks and Desserts, Set Up and Clean Up: Linda McQueary, Roberta Chirko, Evan Knox, Rhonda Van Winkle, Brandi Harper, Susy O’Donnell, Joey Denison, Ollie Tincher, Eddie Franklin, Andrea Baker, Patty Abrams, Lori Owings, Tony White, Steve Blee, Tracy Blee, Allison Blee, Amy and Jim Oliver, Paul Colvin, Terry Beckinger, Bob and Yvonne Oliger, Alyssa Lucas, Madi Whitehorn, Grace Richardson, Arthur Omberg, Donna, John and Cole Bowman, Deb Olson, Phillip Hibner, Jenny Dunn, Kassie Beaucham, Kandice Beaucham, Doug Hoffman, Marqi Satter, Ralph Carlberg, Reyanna Marchuk, Steven Marchuk, Ann and Bill Walters, Lu and Jim Brunnemer, Heather and Steve Mollo, Lacey and Harrison Bryant, Robin White, Jane Huffman and all the wonderful cookie bakers.

Delicious soups were provided by: Story Inn, The Birds Nest, Melissa Parker, The Nashville House, The Ferguson House, Rafters, The Chop House, Sycamore Saloon, Waycross, Johnny’s Grub to Go, Out of the Ordinary, The Brown County Inn, Jason Kirchhofer, Brozinnis, Abe Martin Lodge, The Hob Nob, Jenny Johnson and Kim Robinson and Mother’s Cupboard, featuring Kyle Marchuk 1st year as chef. To all the chefs, servers, and helpers from these fine establishments. Thank You! We hope you all join us again next year.

Finally, to Susy O’Donnell for taking on the task of bowls. Directing set up and packing up bowls and to the local potters in Brown County and surrounding counties for providing us with bowls. We had many from 2019 saved for 2020 that we were able to use, as well as a few new ones from this year. We will contact you for next year!

I can only imagine that Chef Sherry, who we greatly miss, was there in spirit at her favorite event. I know she would have been proud. This turned out to be the biggest event to date! If we have overlooked anyone, please know that your help was GREATLY appreciated.

Save the date for Soup Bowl 2024! Sunday, April 21, 2024.

No one should ever be hungry.

Sandy Richardson, Mother’s Cupboard Community Kitchen board president
