March 29

Brown County, 7, Scottsburg, 17

Summary: Brown County rallied from a 9-0 deficit after one inning to within 10-7, but Scottsburg pulled away for a 17-7 victory.

Savannah Oden went 3 for 4 with a double for the Eagles. Ava Sanders and Ava Stogsdill each went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

April 4

Brown County, 9, Eastern Greene, 8

Summary: Brown County rallied from a 7-0 deficit after two innings to post a 9-8 win against Eastern Greene.

The Eagles (1-1) trailed 8-5 going to the bottom of the seventh, but scored four runs capped by a walkoff two-run single by Savannah Oden.

Ava Stogsdill went 3 for 5, Erin Fish went 2 for 4 and Lexie Austin went 2 for 5. Ava Sanders threw a six-hitter with 15 strikeouts.

Baseball

March 30

Brown County, 5, Edinburgh, 3

Summary: Brown County used a three-run fifth to rally for a 5-3 win against Edinburgh.

Jade Wollems and Gavin Butcher each went 3 for 3 with a double for the Eagles (1-0). Jack Sichting and Logan Weis combined on a seven-hitter.

Jared Myers went 2 for 4 with two doubles and did not allow an earned run in pitching a complete game for the Lancers (0-2).

April 7

Brown County, 0, Austin, 10

Summary: Brown County took its first loss of the season, a 10-0, six-inning defeat against Austin.

Noah Lewis and Logan Weis combined on a three-hitter for the Eagles (1-1). Gavin Butcher had the lone hit for Brown County.

April 8

Brown County, 5, Waldron, 6

Summary: Brown County outhit Waldron 8-6, but the Mohawks pulled out a 6-5 victory.

Jack Sichting went 3 for 4 and combined with Brady Bond on a six-hitter for the Eagles (1-2). Tommy Buccos went 2 for 3.

Boys golf

April 6

Brown County, 206, Hauser, 185

Summary: Hunter Pappano won medalist honors with a 40 to lead Hauser to a 185-206 win against Brown County at Clifty Creek.

Caleb Wallace carded a 42 for the Jets. Brendon Burton added 47, Colton Hatton shot 56, Marshall Moody had a 60 and Gavin Bayne finished with 65.

Clay Austin led the Eagles with a 47. Wesley Arndt added a 49, Bradley Arndt and Jon Kirchhofer each shot 55 and Liam Cassiday and Will Hiatt each shot 64.

Girls tennis

April 7

Brown County, 3, Columbus East, 2

Summary: Brown County pulled out a three-set win at No. 2 singles to claim a 3-2 win at Columbus East.

Anna Tipton beat Katie Hong 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles for the Eagles (2-0). Brown County’s Katie Tipton and Londyn Koester topped Shruthika Kumar and Katey Rieckers 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Ava Kelly and Cady Kemp defeated Avery Brooks and Betsy Hoene 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

For the Olympians (1-3), Lauren Degner beat Anna Stogsdill 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, and Ruth Federle topped Julia Burt 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

April 8

Eagles win invite

Summary: Brown County won all five positions to capture its Steve Makurat Invitational. The Eagles scored 10 points to five for Hauser and zero for Edinburgh.

Anna Stogsdill at No. 1 singles, Anna Tipton at No. 2 singles, Julia Burt at No. 3 singles, Katie Tipton and Londyn Koester at No. 1 doubles and Ava Kelly and Cady Kemp at No. 2 doubles all went 2-0 for Brown County.

Hauser’s Bella Kilps at No. 1 singles, Charlie Clark at No. 2 singles, Lydia Jordan at No. 3 singles, Addy Barriger and Mattie Foster at No. 1 doubles and Kayden Miller and Abby Blair at No. 2 doubles all went 1-1.

Track and field

April 7

Brown County takes second

Summary: Brown County’s boys and girls both finished second Thursday in a home tri meet. Martinsville won the boys meet with 72 points to 58 for the Eagles and 24 for Edgewood, and the Artesians took the girls meet with 79 points to 39 for Brown County and 20 for Edgewood.

Winners for the Eagle boys were Case Smith in the high jump (5 feet, 4 inches), Chase Austin in the 1,600 meters (4 minutes, 47.80 seconds), Elijah LaVere in the 400 (1:00.30) and Rafe Silbaugh in the 800 (2:09.29). Brown County also took the 4×800 relay (9:12.80).

Hadley Gradlof won the girls 3,200 (12:26.06), and the Eagles captured the 4×800 relay (12:07.90).
