William A. (Bill) Tracy, 75, living in New Orleans, LA, passed away in Tulane Medical Center on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

Bill was born in Indianapolis on April 8, 1948, the son of George and Donnis Tracy of Nashville, IN. Following graduation from Brown County High School in 1966, Bill attended IU. He spent one year studying Italian in Bologna, Italy, during his college years.

Bill was brilliant. Several old school friends have said they would never have made it through French or Chemistry without him. At home he had a baby grand piano in his bedroom, playing classical music by the hour. He was also a talented artist and an avid reader, his first job being at the Nashville Library for Mrs. Frasier when he was 14.

After a move to San Francisco, Bill was commissioned to weave wall hangings for commercial buildings, banks, and the Queen Mary II.

He later started his own graphic design business which he ran until retirement, first in San Francisco and later in Manhattan.

Bill and his partner, Joe, loved to travel, making many trips to Europe over the years, sometimes taking friends or relatives with them.

Surviving family members: Stepmother, Melba Wells Tracy; Winslow, AR; aunt, Becky (Steve) Swift of Columbus, IN; nephews, Garth (Charlotte) Nevins and Adam (Amy) Nevins, both of Brown County, Uriah (Renee) Nevins, Springport, IN; and several great and great great nieces and nephews.

Bill was predeceased by his partner, Joe Kerestine; mother, Donnis Tracy Wallace; father, George A. Tracy; sister, Sarah Jane Nevins; brother-in-law, Bob Nevins; grandparents, Walter and India Tracy, Bill and Thelma Taylor.

There will be no service for Bill which was his wish. He will be sorely missed.
