These Brown County folks know what love is really about

Hey Brown County — it’s Valentine’s Day! Love is in the air! Whether it’s your partner, family, pet, plant or community, love is something to be grateful for.

The Brown County Democrat asked different members of the community what love means to them.

“[Love is] The most powerful force in the world. More has been accomplished by people who love their neighbors. War wouldn’t happen with more of it. It is easy to become adversary and combative, but love is the way you solve issues.”

Jerry Pittman, Board of Commissioners President

“I have been married for 19 years and I told my husband, I don’t have to love him, I choose to love him. Love is a gift from God that you can choose to give to others.”

Andi Wilson, Town Council President

“[Love is] the act of showing kindess in all setting regardles of the situation.”

Gavin Steele, Brown County Middle School Principal

“What’s true for me is love is a verb. It means to give of yourself unconditionally without the need of reciprocity.”

Jim Kemp, County Council member

“Family is what love means to me. It’s simple but it’s true.”

Robyn Gaffey, Library Assistant

“There’s a love for family and kids that’s built in. Love for kids, as a parent, I guess I’m like a papa bear, extremely protective. Love for the community is important. Love for your parents is the first type of love you develop. They are your first true love, and when you become a parent you can understand that love wholly. There’s a switch that flips and you feel this undying enduring love. As a lover and partner, she is my best friend. My partner is someone I can share everything with. I can share anything and get her response and opinion. Dedication and devotion. It took me a while to find my true love, but I’m happy I did. Once you have kids, you have a parent type of love for everyone you meet, a concern and overwatch. I’ve always had the job of watching over the flock. Loving someone is someone that makes you smile.”

Brad Stogsdill, Sherriff

“Family and school.”

Shane Killinger, Sprunica Elementary School Principal

“When I think of love, I van’t help but think of Christ. He is the ultimate form of love.”

Ronna Snyder, Brown County High School Guidance Secretary

“If you look up love in the dictionary, you will see county commissioners. My wife and I have been married for 34 years, how much more love can you get than that?”

Blake Wolpert, Board of Commissioners member
