Dawg Gone Walk Thank You!

Dear Editor:

Our Brown County Humane Society recently held its Annual Dawg Gone Walk & Fiesta at Deer Run Park. This year’s event brought together nearly 150 dogs and their human companions for a day of FUN and GAMES. Thanks to the generosity of our community and the biggest turnout we have ever had, this year’s event generated the most proceeds ever in the event’s 22 years – over $46,000 in total!

We would especially like to thank the following: Nancy Pugh for doing a wonderful job of emceeing the event; Reva Brummett for providing amazing music to keep the crowd energized as well as some yummy food; Diane Brubaker for providing nail trims for the dogs; Ann Tarvin for pampering the dogs with massages; Skyelar Lattimore and her dog, Emi, for putting on a wonderful trick dog demonstration; and our contest judges, Billie Grimes and Alice Susemichel.

A big thank you goes out to the Jackson Township Fire Department for bringing out their ladder truck and helping to make our Ball Drop ending a possibility. We love the excitement this adds to the end of the event and the enthusiasm you guys always add! It would not have been possible without your help.

This year, our generous Platinum Sponsors included: Brown County Music Center, Eddie and Patty Jones Memorial, Jones Law Office, Royal on the Eastside, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Tony Stewart Foundation, Werling Charitable Foundation and Zack’s Investment Management. In addition, we had many gold and silver sponsorships that provided financial support for this event. In total, the sponsors donated over $37,200 to this year’s Dawg Walk!

We have all heard that “It Takes a Village.” This event could not have happened without the wonderful volunteers that worked all day to make this event a fantastic success. From set-up to clean-up this group ensured that everyone had a great time. It is a true pleasure to work with such dedicated people.

And lastly, the Dawg Gone Walk & Fiesta would not happen without the participants and their dogs. From small to large dogs, the love and passion these owners have for their pets is amazing. Thank you all for braving the unexpected heat and sun and coming out and enjoying the day with us.
