Michigan man charged with misdemeanors for driving while intoxicated

MORGANTOWN – A 70-year-old man from Harrison Township, Michigan David Puklus has been charged with a class A misdemeanor for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with endangerment and a class C misdemeanor for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

On March 15, Sheriff’s Deputy Oliver Hitz was dispatched to a welfare check at Spearsville Road and State Road 135 N in Morgantown.

According to the report, Hitz arrived on scene and saw a white Ford Escape parked in the eastbound lane on Spearsville Road about 10 yards from the intersection of State Road 135. According to the report, the car had hazard lights on, the motor turned off and was unlocked. Puklus was allegedly laying on his back beside the vehicle in a gravel parking lot.

According to the report he was not wearing shoes and his speech was slurred. Hitz called Emergency Medical Services who transported Puklus to Johnson Memorial Hospital.

Once at the hospital, Hitz was able to speak with Puklus. According to the report, Puklus claimed that he was the driver of the vehicle but was not drunk. The result of his blood draw from the Indiana State Department of Toxicology showed that Puklus had a blood alcohol content of .224.

Plainfield man charged with two misdemeanors for drug related charges

NASHVILLE – A 30-year-old Plainfield man Jacob Hubbard has been charged with a class B misdemeanor for possession of marijuana and a class C misdemeanor for possession of paraphernalia.

On April 7, Nashville Patrolman Jessica Bolin observed a white Kia passenger car without a functioning license plate light. According to the report, Bolin performed a routine traffic stop and smelled a strong odor of marijuana upon approaching the vehicle.

Bolin allegedly asked both the driver and passenger Zach Walden to exit the vehicle for a probable cause search. According to the report, during the search Bolin located a bag of a leafy green substance suspected to be marijuana. She also located two glass smoking pipes containing a burnt residue inside as well as two burnt rolling papers also containing a burnt residue inside.

Car swerves to avoid deer, strikes tree

JACKSON TWP. – On June 1, Sheriff’s Deputy Zaccary Sheppard responded to a motor vehicle crash near Oak Ridge Road. According to the report, Christopher Mulryan took a corner too fast and as he entered the turn swerved to the right to avoid hitting deer, causing him to run off the road and hit a tree head on.

When Sheppard arrived on the scene, he saw a 2015 blue Subaru WRX against a tree with heavy front end damage and airbag deployment.

Mulryan allegedly advised that he was not injured, but reported that his left shoulder was hurting from the seatbelt. According to the report, he refused emergency medical services.
