Where’s There: What’s love got to do with it?

Hey now, Brown County!

I’m back with a local destination. This spot is very new to me.

No, it’s not the Pont des Arts Bridge in Paris, Ponte Milvio Bridge in Rome or even the Hohenzollern Bridge in Germany … this place is right in our backyard. But what do those three places have in common … other than being bridges, of course? Don’t say bridges.

Love is in the air and this place will keep it on lock— hint, hint.

I’ve always wondered where this concept came from. One legend states that a woman who lost her lover during WWI attached padlocks to different bridges where they used to meet to show that their love was unbreakable. I’m scared if I do too much research, I’ll learn it was truly born out of capitalism and that will just break my heart, so we will choose to believe the legend.

Can you guess where I am? Send us an email at [email protected] or stop by our office with your guess to be put in the random drawing for the coveted 175 Years of Brown County book.

Last week we had three correct guesses that I was visiting the Nashville Post Office. Thank you to Pam Hochstetler, Sharon Roth and Chris Eickleberry for always helping me out. While you are all #1 to me, there is only room for one winner… drum roll please, the winner for last week is Sharon Roth.

Congratulations, Sharon! Feel free to stop by our office during regular hours (M-F, 9-4) to grab your copy of 175 Years of Brown County and get a photo with me. We are out and about a lot, so you might want to call ahead (988-2221) to make sure I’m here!

For now, I’ll see you next week!
