Fillmore woman charged for driving and drug related charges

NASHVILLE – A 24-year-old Fillmore woman Alexandria Cook has been charged with a class A misdemeanor for driving while suspended with a prior conviction within 10 years and a class B misdemeanor for possession of marijuana.

On June 4, Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Bales received information that a black Jeep Cherokee registered to Cook was southbound on State Road 135 N around the Morgan County line.

According to the report, Bales located and stopped the vehicle near State Road 135 N and Spearsville Road. According to the report, Bales confirmed that Cook was the driver. She allegedly did not know about her suspension status and told Bales that she thought she had taken care of the status with her insurance company.

According to the report, Cook’s previous suspensions and convictions were in 2019.

Bales allegedly smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. According to the report, Cook said that she had smoked marijuana a few days prior, but did not have anything on her.

Conservation officer Austin Walsh and Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Gibson arrived on the scene and helped Bales search the vehicle.

According to the report, the officers located a plastic tube with suspected marijuana or THC residue, a plastic pre-roll tube with suspected marijuana or THC residue, THC gummies, rolling papers with one rolled with a green leafy substance, an empty disposable THC vape cartridge box and a grinder containing suspected loose marijuana.

Lifetime habitual traffic violator charged with felony

MORGANTOWN – A 66-year-old Franklin man David Wilson has been charged with a level 5 felony for operating a motor vehicle after forfeiture of license for life.

On July 14, Sheriff’s Deputy Zaccary Sheppard received information that a beige Mercury Mountaineer was on State Road 135 and the registered driver was a habitual traffic violator for life.

Sheppard allegedly conducted a routine traffic stop on State Road 135 where he made contact with Wilson and confirmed that Wilson knew of his driving status.

According to the report, Wilson and his wife drove to Brown County from Franklin to visit Nashville and the State Park when his wife’s sciatica and back pain flared up. Wilson allegedly took over because her pain was so severe. He told the officers that he thought there was a clinic in Nashville he could take her to.

He allegedly told the officers that he usually does not drive, but drove because of her condition. According to the report, Wilson’s wife has chronic back and sciatica issues and receives monthly injections for the pain.

According to the report, Wilson has 10 suspensions and three convictions reflected on his driving record.

Minivan in ditch on Sprunica Road

HAMBLEN TWP. – On July 8, Sheriff’s Deputy Zaccary Sheppard responded to a call at the Sprunica and Upper Salt Creek roads intersection for an abandoned 2008 gray Honda Odyssey

According to the report, the minivan was left in the ditch in the 4400 block of Sprunica Road with substantial damage. The airbags were deployed, the windshield was cracked and there were allegedly miscellaneous items scattered around the vehicle.

Brown County Tire arrived on scene to tow the vehicle and told Sheppard that a man had already called them for th vehicle.

The vehicle was registered to Taylor Sokolek who resided in the 5900 block of Hidden Lake Lane in Nineveh. Sheriff’s Deputy Kyle Minor spoke with Sokolek and Shawn Kennedy at Sokolek’s residence.

According to the report, Kennedy was driving the vehicle when they crossed into the westbound lane and ran off the road into a ditch, striking a tree.

Kennedy complained of pain in his right wrist which appeared swollen, according to the report. Kennedy and Sokolek both declined medical treatment.

Motorcyclist ran off roadway on State Road 135

VAN BUREN TWP. – On July 7, Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Gibson responded to a crash on State Road 135 S.

According to the report, Riley Beckner was riding behind a group of motorcyclists on a red Suzuki GSX. When he entered a slight curve, he allegedly saw a car coming in his direction close to the center of the road.

According to the report, Beckner overcorrected the motorcycle and went off the north side of the roadway, laying his motorcycle in the grass.

According to the report, Beckner complained of pain in his left shoulder and arm and was transported by Emergency Medical Services for further treatment.
