On the Road Again, the back-to-school free clothing event is scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Brown County Education Service Center (260 School House Ln).

The event will help provide a week’s worth of clothing for students from preschool through 12th grade.

Students can shop through gently used clothes, limited school supplies, hygiene supplies and more. The event also has volunteer barbers and beauticians who will provide haircuts and styles.

Event organizer Mary Kilgore said that she dreamed up the event 15 years ago and has been running it ever since.

“This is our 15th year to supply back-to-school clothing, shoes, socks, underwear, coats, hats and gloves, as well as hairstyles and haircuts by licensed barbers and beauticians.”

Kilgore said that the event generally takes around 85 volunteers from setting up, running the event, tearing it down and putting everything away afterwards.

Interested volunteers or licensed beauticians and barbers who would like to lend their services can contact Kilgore at (812) 720-1187.

Kilgore takes donations all year leading up to the event and people interested in donating for next year’s event can drop off their items at the Brown County Presbyterian Fellowship (602 State Road 135 N) every Monday from 10 a.m. to noon after Sept. 1. Kilgore said that items cannot be left outside and must be dropped off inside the church.
