The Brown County Community Foundation has a new Director of Development and Community Engagement, Carol Brown.

In this role, Brown will serve as an ambassador within the community to increase awareness of BCCF, its mission and opportunities for investment and involvement to respond to the needs of our county. She will be responsible for executing the Foundation’s donor engagement strategies to ensure donors’ charitable interests are met. She will serve as a key link between Brown County organizations and BCCF as the Community Foundation serves as a catalyst, convener and collaborator for collective community impact.

Brown is returning to Brown County after a 30-year career in higher education, during which she led career services teams at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion and Ivy Tech Community College in Madison, Ind. In these positions, she played a key role in civic activities, collaborating closely with local employers and organizations.

Brown has also contributed her expertise as a board member of the Community Foundation of Grant County and has been actively involved with Rotary International and Tri Kappa. She holds degrees from Indiana University, Bloomington, and the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, and has a background in art and design education. With over 20 years of experience in teaching, presenting, and community engagement, she is a certified career coach and a dedicated advocate for historic preservation.

Larry Brown, Carol’s husband, has recently joined the Indiana Department of Natural Resources as Assistant Manager at Brown County State Park. The Browns are proud parents of two grown sons and enjoy exploring the outdoors with their two labrador retrievers.
