Where’s There: Leaves of Many Colors

Hey there, Brown County! It’s your giddy gadabout back with a new location for the week.

I had to make this one a little harder because you guys are getting too good at this game. Someone has to keep you on your toes.

For those who live or work in Nashville, this monument is basically your neighbor. I sure do enjoy looking at it every time I cross through the Main Street and State Road 135 intersection.

When this sculpture was dedicated, I was in high school and it was the talk of the town. OK, don’t start subtracting the years— I’m not telling you how old I was at the time, high school can mean a few things.

Not only does the sculpture represent a cause that supports local veterans, it also memorializes the beauty of our community as the seasons change.

Think you know where I am? Send us an email at [email protected] or stop by our office with your guess in-person. One lucky person will be chosen at random to win their very own copy of 175 Years of Brown County.

Last week we had seven correct guesses that I was at the Salt Creek Golf Retreat. Thank you to Pam Hochstetler, Jill Lane, Julie Harris, Brooke Hertz, David Hyde, Chris Eickleberry and Michael Brand— all the way from Louisiana, wow!— for participating in last week’s puzzler. You guys were on a role!

While you are all winners to me, there can only be one. After a random draw, the winner is… drum roll please, Julie Harris! Congratulations, Julie! Thank you for playing along.

Feel free to stop by our office during regular hours (M-F, 9-5) to pick up your copy of 175 Years of Brown County and get a photo taken with me. We are out and about a lot, so you might want to call ahead (988-2221) to make sure I’m here!
