CVB and CVC to set new contract

The Brown County Convention and Visitors Bureau Board and Convention and Visitors Commission are between contracts and looking at new ways to market the county’s tourism, including who will oversee the visitor’s center.

The CVC are appointed by the commissioners and council to distribute the innkeepers tax money that the county collects. The CVB is contracted by the CVC to market tourism, including overseeing the operations of the visitor’s center, according to CVB Chair Brian Tadlock.

“The CVC has ended its contract with the CVB,” Tadlock said.”That expired in December of last year, and they have been going month to month with the contract. In doing so, what they really want us to do is they want us to provide an audit of our financials which we are currently undergoing by an independent third party agency and they wanted to look into a prospective new structure on how to administrate the visitor’s center. So that’s basically where we’re at.”

Tadlock told the Democrat that the marketing for the rest of they year has already been bought and developed by their advertising agency, so people will not notice any changes during this time between contracts. He said that the CVC wants to hand over administration of the visitor’s center to the Brown County Music Center while maintaing a marketing committee that would have members of the different tourism industries within the county sharing input for future plans. The idea would allow the CVB to focus solely on marketing.

The Brown County Democrat was unable to reach CVC President Kevin Ault for comment.
