Brown County Rising film series continues with the viewing of Social Dilemma at Brown County Playhouse.

The next film in the Brown County Rising film series, Social Dilemma, will be shown at the Brown County Playhouse at 2 p.m. on Sept. 22. This documentary explores the impact of social media on our lives. Social Dilemma premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and has since been released on Netflix. Social media has become a part of our everyday life, often used to keep up with news and connections with others. The documentary provides a cautionary perspective including interviews with former tech experts who worked for these companies and developed the programs that track our online activity and the algorithms that encourage addiction to their platforms. The film explores the dangerous human impact of social networking, especially for young adults, both mentally and physically, The event will also include a panel discussion, Q7A, and door prize drawings.

The free film is being brought to the community through the partnership of the Brown County Paces Initiative, Nashville United Methodist Church, and the Brown County Playhouse, with funding provided by the Brown County Community Foundation. The film series will continue at 2 p.m. on Nov. 24 with the film, Wrestling Ghosts.
