Vote Candidate, not Party.

To have your vote count, take the time to vote for each office. A straight party vote will not cast ANY vote for non-partisan positions, public questions, Judge Retention, School Board or Independent candidates.

Check your Voter Registration before the Oct. 7 deadline, one month before every election.

Some people say “I know I’m registered, so I don’t need to check.” But unfortunately, it is possible for a registration to be made inactive if no vote has been cast for a period of time, or if somehow, a mailing didn’t get through, or other issues. It’s easy to check your registration. Just go online to IndianaVoters.com, click “Check my Voter Registration”, enter your name and address to log in to be sure your voter registration is ACTIVE. Or, call the Brown County Clerk’s office to check: (812) 988-5510.

And remember, if you name changed, or you moved or you changed your mailing address, update your registration by Oct. 7.

Plan your Vote. Vote early Oct. 8 to Nov. 4

Vote Early in Person Oct. 8 to Nov. 4 when open. Hours vary, so check the schedule if you need to vote early or up to 6 p.m. Oct. 8. See days, hours and times on the Brown County Government Website, Brown County Clerk’s Election page: https://browncounty-in.gov/DocumentCenter/View/693/Early-Voting?bidId=

Election Day is Nov. 5, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Log into IndianaVoters.com to see where YOU vote if you go in person Election Day. You MUST go to your assigned precinct polling location for your vote to count.

Vote Absentee by Mail, but apply by Oct. 24, and return the ballot early to make sure it arrives by Nov. 5. Postmark does not count, and in the Primary, about seven ballots did not count because they arrived after Election Day.

If Homebound or ill, apply for Travel Board by noon, Nov. 4 to have a bipartisan team bring a ballot to you.

All forms to register to vote, apply for an absentee mail in ballot or travel board are available online at IndianaVoters.com, or at the Brown County Clerk’s office: (812) 988-5510.
