Editor’s note: The Brown County Junior High School We the People team won the state civics contest championship in December and wants to win another national title for Brown County. Kara Adams
My name is Kara Adams. I am in Unit 2 in the We the People class. Unit 2 studies the Declaration of Independence, life in the colonies and the Articles of Confederation.
I love We the People, because it teaches me about our nation’s history and valuable life lessons. The We the People class has shown me the impact government has on our daily lives. Thanks to this class, I have a better understanding of why it is important to participate in government.
Riley Arnholt
My name is Riley Arnholt. I am part of Unit 3 in the We the People 2016 class. Unit 3 studies the Philadelphia Convention and what ideas and compromises came out of them.
We the People has caused me to ask many questions and question our government today. And I enjoy that. Participating in the class means I can be a better citizen than what I would have been if I hadn’t taken this class. I know what it means to be a good citizen. When I get older I will be able to practice what it means to be a good citizen.

The Brown County Community Foundation is offering a $9,000 challenge grant to the We the People Team’s 2016 quest for the national championship.
This grant will trigger when the team raises $28,500 of their $37,500 goal.
Tax-deductible donations toward the team can be sent to the Brown County Community Foundation with “BCJHS WTP” in the memo line, or directly to the junior high school at the address listed in the “editor’s note” above.
The team also is conducting several fundraising events, including an online live auction which can be found at https://www.32auctions.com/wethepeople2016.
