Preschool, kindergarten roundup dates set
Parents wishing to enroll their 3- through 5-year-old children in Brown County schools can do so between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on the following dates:
- Sprunica Elementary, Thursday, April 7, 812-988-6625
- Helmsburg Elementary, Tuesday, April 12, 812-988-6651
- Van Buren Elementary, Wednesday, April 13, 812-988-6658
Preschool is open to 3- and 4-year-olds. No appointment is necessary to register for preschool and the student does not need to come in to register.
Children registering for kindergarten must be 5 before Aug. 1. Parents need to call the school to make an appointment and bring the child for testing.
Enrollment paperwork can be downloaded from brownco.k12.in.us. Bring the child’s birth certificate for copying. A $25 family literacy fee will be charged to enroll.
Enroll your preschooler at Head Start
Head Start is seeking children to enroll in its preschool program.
Children ages 3 to 5 can sign up now for the 2016-2017 school year. Students must be 3 years old by Aug. 1.
Head Start is free for income-eligible families. Bus transportation may be available in some areas.
