BEAN BLOSSOM — Officers serving a warrant at the Bean Blossom Trailer Court arrested two people after the said they discovered methamphetamine in a woman’s purse.

On March 9, Indiana State Police and Brown County sheriff’s deputies served a warrant for Perry N. Warfield, 40, Trafalgar, who was wanted out of Johnson County and by the Indiana Department of Corrections for a parole violation, an affidavit by Trooper Chris Griggs states.

When Griggs started toward the front door of the trailer, he saw Warfield and Lisa M. Simpson, 58, Bean Blossom, exit. Warfield was ordered to the ground and taken into custody.

Police searched him and found a broken glass pipe with meth residue inside, the report said.

Simpson walked off the porch, and when Griggs went to speak with her to determine if she was the owner of the trailer or not, he reported it was “immediately obvious” Simpson was under the influence of methamphetamine, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Simpson denied living in the trailer and initially gave the officers a false name. She told officers her real name after hearing them request a photo of the woman whose name she had given.

She also was wanted out of Johnson County for possession of dangerous drugs. When placed into handcuffs, Simpson reportedly became agitated and began uttering statements that “made no sense,” according to the affidavit.

Simpson tried to walk off saying that her mother was dying and she had to get to her. Griggs reported that Simpson would not sit still and was trying to get out of the handcuffs.

Griggs asked Simpson for consent to search a vehicle in the driveway that she said belonged to her mother. Prior to the search, Simpson said a friend had left some items in her vehicle and that she had methamphetamine in her purse.

On March 10, Warfield was charged with possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

Simpson was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony; and false informing and possession of paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.
