Police: Uncovered ID leads to burglary charge

SWEETWATER LAKE — Two men have been charged in connection with a burglary on Eagle Drive last month.

Jeremy Wiley, 34, and Christopher Pope, 32, were each charged June 7 with burglary, a Level 4 felony, and theft, a Level 6 felony. Both were listed on jail bookings as being from Bloomington, but Wiley’s court paperwork says he’s from Solsberry.

The homeowner told police that three TVs and a laptop were taken around the third week of May, and that an ID belonging to Wiley was found at the scene.

The homeowners knew Wiley and Pope, and Pope had recently done some work for them, but there was no reason Wiley should have been there, they told police.

Detective Brian Shrader spoke to the owner of a Bloomington pawn store which had bought two TVs from Pope, the police report said.

Both men were arrested and booked into the Brown County jail June 9.
