Local woman injured in crash on Clay Lick

A Cordry-Sweetwater woman was injured in a head-on crash yesterday afternoon on Clay Lick Road.

It occurred south of Long Lake Road at around 2:45 p.m., according to an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Eggebrecht.

When he arrived, Leslie S. Bryant, 67, of Muskrat Drive, was unable to get out of her car. The other vehicle was pinning her door shut, the report said. Eggebrecht, EMS and firefighters were able to help her out through the trunk area, the report said.

Bryant complained of general pain as she was helped out of the car and Eggebrecht reported seeing bleeding on her left shoulder. She was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

The other driver, Philip N. Cummings, 60, of Medora, told police he was southbound on Clay Lick and went to turn in the curve, but the front end of his truck continued to go straight because of the slick road surface.

He struck Bryant’s vehicle head-on in her lane. He was not injured, the report said.

Both vehicles were towed.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
