Man faces misdemeanor paraphernalia charge

A man who was stopped for having a headlight out was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police searched a bag in the back of his car.

Dean F. Terrill, 19, of Jackson Branch Road, was pulled over near the intersection of State Road 46 East and Fair Oaks Trail at about 8 p.m. Oct. 16.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Stargell cited him for having false and fictitious registration and no proof of financial responsibility when Terrill admitted that the license plate on his Honda Civic was registered to another vehicle of his, a Pontiac. He also couldn’t show proof of insurance right away, the report said.

While Stargell was waiting on a wrecker, he asked Terrill and his two passengers to step out of the vehicle so he could inventory its contents. He found a smoking pipe in the front pocket of a bag on the floorboard, and Terrill said the bag was his, the report said. He told Stargell he didn’t realize the pipe was in it, the report said.

Terrill was issued a summons for possession of paraphernalia. That misdemeanor charge was filed Nov. 16 in Brown Circuit Court.
