Arrest made in church vandalism case

Police in Bartholomew and Brown counties have made an arrest in a more than year-old case of vandalism at multiple churches.

Today, Det. Will Kinman of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department and Det. Brian Shrader of the Brown County Sheriff’s Department arrested Renzo Signorino of Columbus on the following charges:

  • Burglary, Level 5 felony (Way of Holiness Tabernacle Church)
  • Theft, Class A misdemeanor (Way of Holiness Tabernacle Church)
  • Institutional criminal mischief, Class A misdemeanor (Way of Holiness Tabernacle Church)
  • Burglary, Level 5 felony (St. Agnes Catholic Church)
  • Institutional criminal mischief, Class A misdemeanor (St. Agnes Catholic Church)
  • Institutional criminal mischief, Class A misdemeanor (Pikes Peak Church)

Bartholomew County charges are pending.

A 17-year-old also is connected to this case and charges are pending, a press release said.

“Both sheriff’s departments worked diligently together to solve this case. We were provided a tip on Aug. 19, 2018, from the Carmel Police Department and the FBI concerning connections to a case they were working in Carmel,” the release said.

Both departments were aided in this investigation by the FBI, Carmel Police Department, Bartholomew County prosecutor’s office and Brown County prosecutor’s office.
