Club news for week of Oct. 23

St. Agnes Guild

Some members of the St Agnes Guild traveled to Westport to peruse unique designs by Dorothy Kramer and selected this year’s design for the patchwork quilt that will be raffled at the church’s annual bazaar.

Guild members Dolores Francis, Donna Gray, Toni Page, Paulette Brester, Jean Wawrzyniak and Joann Garreaux hand-quilted the selected pattern. These women have worked together for many years, spending over 200 hours each year to complete a quilt.

The Brown County Stars quilt pattern is made of 26 blocks of stars, arranged in a window pane style, divided by brown sashing with yellow corners. The quilt has two borders: an outer border in green with an orange print, and an inner border in yellow with a delicate pink flower print. Leaves were stitched in the open area of the quilt. The 8-point stars are each on a cream background and vary in size and color.
