CRC coach makes governor’s coaching corps

INDIANAPOLIS — Shannon Brunton, the graduation and career coach for the Career Resource Center of Brown County, is one of the 35 Hoosiers selected for the Skillful Indiana Governor’s Coaching Corps.

The corps was developed in partnership with Colorado and Indiana to give coaches training to help better serve job seekers.

“This is a great honor since it is the first ever coaching corps in the state,” said CRC Director Christy Wrightsman. “Shannon’s application definitely stood out.”

Brunton will work with other coaches from workforce centers, colleges, high schools and nonprofit organizations to develop a network to better serve job seekers. The coaches will also learn skills-based approaches to career coaching along with how to use advanced features of tools like LinkedIn to help people find jobs.

Once they are done with their work, the coaches will be able to recommend new policies and practices to the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet for potential adoption.

Along with the CRC, Brunton also works at Brown County High School, aiding freshmen and sophomores who have been identified as at risk for dropping out.
