MAYBE YOU’LL REMEMBER: Celebrating an important anniversary

Today, June 18, 2019, is our 50th wedding anniversary.

We met in Indianapolis in 1967. I was a student at Sam’s Technical Institute just before ITT purchased it. I graduated with an AAS in 1969.

We married that year and lived in Indianapolis.

Linda graduated from Howe High School in 1968.

Many of you have had the same experience (only different), achieved the same goal in life, to be happy and add to the common wisdom of mankind. Fifty years proves that we, Linda and I, made at least a lasting partnership in life.

We touched the lives of over 120 foster children in three states, and we invite them and you, my friends and family, to just say “Hi” or wave as you pass.

One could not pick a better place to spend these final years. Brown County and Nashville are indeed our home, our history.

The past is worth sharing, and I hope you have enjoyed reading my column, and as I have diverted a bit, I will add the following:

In 1969, eggs were 62 cents, postage was 6 cents and gas was 35 cents.

In 1969, the feds removed the $500, $1,000, $5,000 and $10,000 bills from circulation. Many don’t know this, but there were then five $100,000 bills used for ceremonial events.

Minimum wage was $1.35 and the Dow Jones topped out at 952.

Inflation was 5.7 percent, but getting into the pool at the park was still 25 cents.

’Til next time. — Buzz
