Brown County’s New Year’s baby was reunited last month with the volunteer firefighter who helped bring him into this world.

On Jan. 27, Kelly Hilligoss and her husband Eric, along with baby Henry and big brother Everett, visited the Trafalgar Volunteer Fire Department to let firefighter Tyler Sneed meet Henry.

On Jan. 1, Kelly, a nurse with the Brown County Health Department, delivered Henry in her car in a Trafalgar church parking lot with the help of Sneed.

Kelly and Eric had been on their way to Community South Hospital in Indianapolis that evening when they pulled over at Samaria Christian Church and called for help.

Sneed heard the emergency call about a woman in labor and went straight to the scene. He lives less than a mile from the church. He got into the car and asked the woman questions for about 30 seconds. About 90 seconds later, Henry was born. Learning to deliver a baby is part of the training firefighters undergo.

Mom and baby were taken to Community Hospital South. The hospital presented Sneed with a stork pin in honor of helping to deliver the baby.

Baby Henry was also named a junior firefighter with the Trafalgar Volunteer Fire Department.
