Attempted traffic stop leads to pursuit

FRUITDALE — A Hornettown Road man faces a felony and multiple misdemeanors after he refused to stop for a Brown County sheriff’s deputy Oct. 24.

Deputy Andrew Eggebrecht reported in a probable cause affidavit that he saw Jessie A. Cline, 29, speeding on Hornettown Road.

Eggebrecht turned on his emergency lights and attempted to stop Cline, but he said Cline continued to drive in excess of 70 mph on the county road “with lots of curves and hills.”

Cline drove left of center and almost off the road while turning onto Fowler Lane from Hornettown Road, the affidavit said.

Cline then stopped the vehicle and exited with his hands up, the report said.

Eggebrecht reported that Cline had a case with a metal-like pipe in it with residue.

In addition to resisting law enforcement, a Level 6 felony, and driving while suspended and reckless driving, both Class C misdemeanors, Cline was charged with possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
