Attempted murder case gets new attorney

A Brown County man charged with attempted murder has a new public defender after the first one requested the change.

According to online court records, public defender Alicia Allen requested a new attorney be assigned to represent Kenneth Wayne Guy, 58.

Allen, an attorney from Martinsville, was not present at Guy’s 9 a.m. hearing Nov. 30. Allen requested a new public defender be appointed at the hearing when it was reconvened more than an hour later.

Roy Graham was appointed to represent Guy, who described himself in court as homeless. His new jury trial date is Jan. 3 at 8 a.m.

Guy was arrested Sept. 7 after police say he attacked his younger brother, David Guy, at his brother’s home in Bean Blossom Sept. 6 while David was sitting on his front porch. David Guy received serious injuries.

Kenneth Guy is also facing charges of aggravated battery, a Level 3 felony; criminal recklessness, a Level 6 felony; and resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor.
