Police: Man stopped for speeding arrested on OWI

A Louisville, Kentucky, man was arrested in Brown County Jan. 29 after he was pulled over for driving 75 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Nashville Police Officer Matthew Hatchett reported in a probable cause affidavit that he stopped a vehicle driven by Christopher Hammon, 24, in the 3200 block of State Road 46 East at around 3:30 a.m.

Hammon told Hatchett he was returning from a birthday party and had a “couple of beers” about an hour ago. Hatchett reported smelling alcohol on Hammon and that his eyes were red/watery.

A breath test showed Hammon’s blood-alcohol content to be 0.10. While at the Brown County jail, Hammon admitted to drinking approximately five 16-ounce beers in a six-hour period.

While inventorying Hammon’s vehicle, Seward discovered a blue grinder and a small plastic baggie containing an immeasurable amount of a green leafy plant like substance, the report said.

Hammon was charged Jan. 30 with two OWI counts and two counts of possessing marijuana and paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.
