Woman charged with drunken driving in July crash

A local woman was charged Nov. 1 with drunken driving after crashing her Cadillac and injuring herself in July.

Lynn L. Austin, 53, of State Road 135 North, refused a chemical test at the scene of the crash. It happened at her home at about 10:30 p.m. July 29, according to the police report and the sheriff’s log. It was called in by OnStar, the sheriff’s log said.

Austin admitted to driving. An officer saw an open alcoholic beverage in the vehicle, the report said. Nashville Police Officer Richard King described her attitude as “argumentative” and wrote that she smelled of alcohol.

A sample of her blood was taken at Columbus Regional Hospital, the report said. The report did not include information about the extent of her injuries.

Austin was charged Nov. 1 with operating a vehicle while intoxicated — endangering a person and operating a vehicle with an ACE of 0.15 or more, both misdemeanors.
