Volunteers sought to serve on county boards

The Brown County Council and Brown County Commissioners will make appointments to fill seats on several county boards for 2018 within the next month.

The Brown County Council will appoint members to the following: Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Brown County Regional Sewer District Board, Brown County Convention and Visitors Commission, Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals and the Brown County Redevelopment Commission.

Anyone who wants to apply for a council-appointed seat — including people currently serving on those boards — needs to submit a resume and/or letter of interest to the Brown County auditor’s office by 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17. Applicants must also attend the 6:30 p.m. council meeting Monday, Nov. 20 at the County Office Building, 201 N. Locust Lane. Applicants will asked to briefly speak about their interest and qualifications. For more information on council-appointed seats, call the auditor’s office at 812-988-5485.

The county commissioners will appoint people to the following: Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Brown County Board of Health, Brown County Public Library Board, Brown County Convention and Visitors Commission, Helmsburg Regional Sewage District Board, Gnaw Bone Regional Sewage District Board, Hamblen Township Fire Protection District Board, Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals (PTABOA), Brown County Redevelopment Commission, Brown County Area Plan Commission and Brown County Board of Zoning Appeals.
