Donate to charities for holidays

Two local organizations are asking residents to donate money toward their causes this holiday season.

  • The Brown County Literacy Coalition is raising money to grow its one-one-one tutoring program for kids in kindergarten through third grade; fund the local Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program, which provides a book a month to more than 550 Brown County children up to age 5; and increase the number of Little Free libraries in remote areas of the county, which cost about $300 each. The literacy coalition is a 501(c)3 organization, which means donations are tax-deductible. For more information or to donate, visit crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/help-brown-county-kids-learn-to-read.
  • The Brown County Community Foundation is offering a 50-cent match for every $1 contributed to a BCCF endowment. If supporting the foundation directly, every $1 donated to the BCCF administrative endowment will be matched with $1. All match dollars are applied on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information about local community causes that have endowments at the BCCF, with questions about initiatives currently supported by the BCCF, or to give, visit browncountygives.org or call the foundation at 812-988-4882.
