Ode to January
If I were a painter of winter
I’d paint this snowy scene
I’d capture it like a bug in a jar
To look back on whenever I please.
As I paint the snow
I’d dream of the Spring
With the warmth of the sun
And the flowers it brings.
I’d remember the chill
That I’m feeling right now
As the hot summer sun
Beats down on my brow.
It seems a restless state
In the nature of man
To never want at the time
What he has in his hand.
