Brown County man faces invasion of privacy charge

A Brown County man faces a felony charge of invasion of privacy after police found him with a woman who has a protective order against him.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Colton Magner reported that March 22, he was assisting in a search for a runaway juvenile at around 6 p.m. in the 700 block of Creamer Drive when Duran A. Morgan, 23, came out of the home with another man.

Police searched the house for the runaway and found a woman there who has a protective order against Morgan.

Morgan told police he stuck his head into the home to check on family members, but Magner noted that Morgan was at the doorway when police arrived.

Morgan said he had only been inside the home for about 10 minutes and that he did not know the woman who had a protective order against him was inside, according to the affidavit.

He was handcuffed and taken to the Brown County jail. On March 23, Morgan was charged with invasion of privacy, a Class A misdemeanor. That charge was elevated to a Level 6 felony because he had been convicted of invasion of privacy in 2017.

Morgan had been charged with invasion of privacy four other times since September 2017, but two of those counts were dismissed.
