Woman facing battery charge

A Brown County woman was arrested after a relative reported she hit her in the face, causing her nose to bleed.

Police responded to a home in the 4600 block of Covered Bridge Road on Sept. 14 for a report of a physical domestic disturbance, according to a report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Schonfeld.

The caller said Amber Anderson, 34, of Covered Bridge Road, had hit her. When police arrived, the caller’s husband was there and the two people involved in the fight were separated.

Schonfeld wrote that the victim had blood on the front of her nightgown, on her hands and inside her oxygen tube. He also reported seeing a trash can with bloody tissues in it.

Anderson admitted to striking the victim in the face. She said she told her to call 911 and have police take her to jail.

She said the victim was trying to tell her how to raise her children and was “bullying” her. She said her children were late to school because of the victim. Anderson said she tried not to hit her, but she kept antagonizing her. She said the victim told her to go ahead and hit her.

Anderson was arrested and taken to the Brown County jail.

The victim said the argument started over one of Anderson’s children needing a permission slip signed for a field trip. She said Anderson suffers from PTSD. The victim had called police a few weeks earlier because Anderson threw a glass of water at her, the report said.

Children were home during the incident, but were in their bedroom and not present at the time of the altercation.

Anderson was charged Sept. 17 with domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
