Coach’s comments: Senior Parker VanNess fired a one-over-par 72 and tied for second at the Brown County Invitational at Salt Creek Golf Retreat. Capturing medalist honors with a 70 and leading his team to the championship was Damon Dickey of Franklin Community High School. Center Grove High School put four golfers at 80 or lower to grab the runner-up spot.

Coach’s comments: The Martinsville Artesians fired a 177 on their home course to defeat Brown County and Indian Creek. The Eagles and Braves each shot a 192, but Indian Creek grabbed the second spot by virtue of a fifth-score tiebreaker. Brown County’s Parker VanNess led the Eagles and claimed medalist honors with a 37, while fellow senior Curtis Lookebill carded a 44.

Coach’s comments: The BCHS boys golf team traveled to Rolling Meadows Golf Course Thursday, April 11, where they lost to Edgewood (170) and host Owen Valley (182). Curtis Lookebill recorded the best score for the Eagles with a 49. Medalist for the match was Edgewood’s Jackson Wendel with a 38. Eagle freshmen Jordan Burnett and Wyatt Frist competed in their first match, and Frist witnessed his first hole-in-one as Owen Valley’s Brock Rosenberger, playing in Frist’s group, aced the par-3 No. 8 hole.

Coach’s comments: The Eagle golfers finished square in the middle of the 10-team field at the Mustang Invitational hosted by Edgewood High School Saturday, April 13 at Cascades Golf Course in Bloomington. While the host Mustangs comfortably took the team title, outdistancing runner-up Greencastle by nine strokes, it was Brown County senior Parker VanNess who grabbed medalist honors with a two over 73. Freshman Cooper VanNess carded the Eagles’ second-best score with a 94 that included his best nine hole score of the young season, a 44 on the front side. The Indian Creek Braves fired a strong 354 to take home the third-place trophy. Brown County has two matches scheduled next week, home with Brownstown Central Monday, April 15 at 4:45 and at South Decatur Thursday, April 18 at 4:30.
