Alumni banquet

The Brown County High School Alumni Association Banquet took place Saturday, June 22 at the Seasons Lodge and Conference Center, 560 State Road 46 East.

President Glen Percifield welcomed alumni and guests of all Brown County high schools. At 5 p.m., he instructed the honored class of 1969 to go outside for class group pictures, which were taken by Rick Kelley.

The Pledge of Allegiance and devotions were given by David David. All enjoyed a fried chicken dinner.

President Percifield gave the annual roll call of classes, starting with the class of 1939. Sara Kritzer was present, and this was her class’s 80th anniversary. Classes of 1955 and 1987 had the largest number present.

Events included a special presentation of the 50th anniversary of the Brown County class of 1969. The former class president Tony Sparks spoke on spirit. He had traveled around the world, and in Europe confronted a terrorism attack. The class had 81 members; 22 classmates are now deceased.

The first graduating class of Brown County High School held commencement exercises for more than 70 students in the gymnasium on May 24, 1962. Now, 57 years later, the class of 1969 was congratulated, having experienced a significant period in the history of Brown County Schools.

Rick Kelley facilitated an apple butter game, in which someone at each table won a jar of apple butter.
