Pioneer Women

The Pioneer Women’s Club meets each Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Brown County History Center, 90 E. Gould St. Interested women are welcome.

Woodworkers club

FRANKLIN — The Brown County Woodworkers Club will have its annual field trip to Marc Adams School of Woodworking, 5504 E. 500 North, Franklin, on Tuesday, Aug. 6. Plan to arrive at 5:30 p.m. to tour the facility.

A cookout will follow at 6 p.m. After dinner, three well-known woodworking instructors will present a slideshow of their work.

Rotary club

The Brown County Rotary Club will meet at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 at Nashville’s Artists Colony Inn, 105 S. Van Buren St.

The guest speaker will be Jacob Lewis, founder and owner of Bloomington-based JCL Aerial Services, which provides professional imaging services to clients who need an eye in the sky. He will expound on the many applications of aerial photography using remotely piloted unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones, and on the technology that enables these applications.

Lewis earned a bachelor’s degree in aviation business management from the University of North Dakota. While in North Dakota, he obtained commercial pilot, flight instructor and remote pilot certificates along with multi-engine and instrument ratings. He is also a volunteer in the music liturgy, playing acoustic and electric guitar, at the City Church for All Nations in Bloomington.

Members of the community — especially those interested in learning about and helping with Rotary activities and projects — are invited to attend.

Widowed group

The Brown County Widowed Group will meet Saturday, Aug. 10 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sycamore Valley Community Center on the fairgrounds.

The topic for discussion will be chapter four from the book “The Seniors” titled, “What Challenges do the Elderly Face?”

Veteran Bible study

The Brown County Veteran’s Chaplain Corps Bible Study for Veterans began Thursday, Aug. 1 and will meet the first Thursday of each month at Veterans Hall, 902 Deer Run Lane, from 9 to 10 a.m. The next meeting will be Sept. 5.

Preservation society

The Brown County Cemetery Preservation Society meets the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be in the archives room at the Brown County History Center, 90 E. Gould St., Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 4:15 p.m.

The society is a committee of the Peaceful Valley Heritage group. All are welcome.

Peaceful Valley Heritage

Peaceful Valley Heritage Inc., a preservation group, meets the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be at the Brown County Community Foundation building, 209 N. Van Buren St., on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Herb society

The Brown County Herb Society meets the third Monday of each month. The club will meet in the lower level of the Brown County Public Library on Monday, Aug. 19 at 3 p.m. All are welcome to join.
