B: 8 12 14 11 — 45

Coach’s comments: The Eagles kicked off the 2019-20 season with a nice win over Bloomfield. After a solid first quarter, Brown County used a big second quarter to put the game out of reach. Tough defense, solid shooting and a balanced scoring attack proved too much for the Cardinals to overcome. Allison Stogsdill led three Brown County players in double figures with 18, followed by fellow seniors Aubrey Hollander (14) and Gracie Matlock (12). All eight Eagles put points on the board for the home squad. Next up for Brown County is a home date with Bloomington North on Friday.

Coach’s comments: The Eagles picked up their second win of the season with a hard fought win over Bloomington North. Brown County came out strong in the first quarter, establishing an early 12-5 lead before the Cougars fought back to tie it at 14 at the end of the quarter. North carried the momentum into the second quarter as they took advantage of several Brown County players being in foul trouble and built a 25-18 lead. But the home team refused to give in, and fought back to close within three at the half. Brown County came out of the locker room determined to take control of the game as they used their defense to hold North to only four points in the period to take a 4-point lead into the final quarter. The Eagles slowly stretched the lead throughout the final quarter as they saw the lead grow to as many as 10 as they were able to put the finishing touches on the victory. A balanced scoring attack saw all eight Eagles who played put points on the board. Gracie Matlock was the lone Brown County player in double figures with 11. The Eagles travel to Columbus East next Tuesday for a contest with the Olympians.
