Pioneer Women

The Pioneer Women’s Club meets each Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Brown County History Center, 90 E. Gould St. Interested women are welcome.

Cemetery preservation

The Brown County Cemetery Preservation Society meets the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be in the archives room at the Brown County History Center, 90 E. Gould St., Tuesday, March 10 at 4:15 p.m. The society is a committee of the Peaceful Valley Heritage group. All are welcome.

Peaceful Valley Heritage

Peaceful Valley Heritage Inc., a preservation group, meets the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be at the Brown County Community Foundation building, 209 N. Van Buren St., on Tuesday, March 10 at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Rotary club

The Brown County Rotary Club will meet at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, March 12 at the Artists Colony Inn, 105 S. Van Buren St.

Guest speaker Lt. Ken Alip will discuss the work of the Salvation Army around the world and in Nashville. The topics will include a brief history of the Salvation Army, its social services and seasonal programs and the FourTwelve youth group.

Alip earned a bachelor’s degree in information technology from AMA Computer University in the Philippines. He spent eight years as a website developer and project manager, and then was called by God to full-time ministry in 2012. He entered the College for Officers Training in Chicago in 2015 and was commissioned as a lieutenant in 2017. His first appointment was to serve in Brengle Holiness Institute in Chicago. Currently, he is the pastor of the Brown County Salvation Army.

Members of the community — especially those interested in exploring opportunities to participate in projects and to be of service to the community — are invited to attend.

Widowed group

The Brown County Widowed Group will meet at 2:30 p.m. on March 14 at the Sycamore Valley Community Center at the fairgrounds. The topic for discussion will be the stages of grief. Any widowed person is welcome to attend.

Herb society

The Brown County Herb Society meets the third Monday of each month. The club will meet in the lower level at the Brown County Public Library on Monday, March 16 at 3 p.m. All are welcome to join. Call the library at 812-988-2850 for more information.

Lions club

The Brown County Lions Club meets the third Tuesday of each month at the Seasons Lodge and Conference Center, 560 State Road 46 East, with a dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be March 17.

The Lions Club board meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Brown County Public Library, 205 Locust Lane. Anyone interested in Lions is invited to attend. The next board meeting will be April 7.

A Novel Bunch book club meets every third Wednesday at the Brown County Public Library, 205 Locust Lane, at 2 p.m. in meeting room B. The next meeting is March 18. For more information, call the library at 812-988-2850.

Bluebird club

The Brown County Bluebird Club’s annual bluebird nest box sale has begun. The boxes are all cedar and fully assembled. One box is $15 and two boxes are $25. To obtain a box, call Dan Sparks at 812-200-5700.
